Frequently asked questions.
Straight answers about working with an independent insurance broker, getting quotes and making claims.

General
What does an insurance broker do?
We assess your risk, design the cover and place it with the right insurer. We negotiate terms and pricing on your behalf, administer policies, premiums, endorsements and renewals, and pursue claims through to settlement.
Is HAT Insurance Brokers licensed?
Yes. HAT Insurance Brokers Limited is licensed by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), registered with the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) and covered by professional indemnity insurance.
Is HAT independent of insurers?
Yes. HAT is independent of any insurer, bank or group. We quote the whole market so that our advice stays focused on your interests.
Which insurers do you work with?
We hold brokerage agreements with leading Nigerian insurers including Leadway, AIICO, AXA Mansard, Custodian, Coronation, NEM, Cornerstone and Mutual Benefits, and we have relationships with international brokers and reinsurers for larger and specialty placements.
Where are you based and who do you serve?
Our head office is at 2, Oluwole Philips Avenue, off Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos. We serve corporate, public sector, SME and private clients nationwide.
Quotes & cover
How do I get a quote?
Complete the quote request form, call us on 07036338071 or message us on WhatsApp. A named broker will understand your needs, quote the market and come back to you with clear terms and pricing.
What information do I need to provide?
Tell us what you want to protect, its approximate value and your contact details. For businesses, a short description of operations and assets helps. Your broker will ask for anything further that insurers require.
How long does it take to get quotes?
It depends on the class of insurance and how quickly insurers respond. Your named contact will tell you what to expect for your specific request.
Can I buy insurance directly on this website?
Not at the moment. This website presents our services and lets you request quotes and make enquiries. Policy issuance and payment are arranged with your broker. Digital enrolment and partner channels are planned.
What happens at renewal?
We review your changing needs, compare terms again where appropriate and arrange continued protection, so your cover keeps up with your circumstances.
Claims
How do I make a claim?
Contact your named HAT broker as soon as possible. We guide you on when and how to report the claim, support notification to the insurer and stay with it until payment or proper resolution.
What documents will I need?
This depends on the policy and the type of loss, but you will usually need your policy details, a description of what happened and supporting evidence such as photographs, invoices or reports. Your broker will tell you exactly what is required.
Do I tell HAT or the insurer first?
Tell your HAT broker first. We will advise you on notification requirements so that you meet your policy conditions and avoid avoidable delays.
Health
Can you arrange a corporate HMO for my staff?
Yes. We offer local corporate HMO cover for employees and dependants. We compare providers, support programme design and monitor service.
Do you offer health cover for expatriates?
Yes. We offer APRIL MyHealth International iPMI for expatriates living and working in Nigeria and their families, subject to the selected plan. Medical evacuation is subject to plan terms and 24/7 support helps members access care abroad.
